Khalistan protagonist Jagjit Singh Chauhan on Saturday asserted that he was the only leader of the movement to have spoken against terrorism and would not allow the cult to resurface in Punjab.
Chauhan, however, charged the Congress party with being responsible for the violent struggle in Punjab and demanded unconditional apology from the family members of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for it. The Congress was responsible for the violent struggle in Punjab, the Sikh separatist leader, who recently returned home after 22 years in exile in UK, told reporters in Punjab.
Chauhan said family members of the late prime minister should tender unconditional apology for the violence and if they failed to do so, then god would always remain unkind to them for their acts. Claiming that he was the only leader to have spoken of peace during the time of terrorism in Punjab, he said he stood against terrorism and would not allow it to resurface in the state at any cost.
He also attacked Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for terming him as a spent force and for declaring that he would not be admitted to the Akali Dal.
I would never join the Akali Dal, he said.
