Surat, Aug 04: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today ordered a detailed inquiry, assisted by forensic experts, into the building collapse tragedy in Varachcha area of the textile city.
Modi, who arrived this morning and visited the building collapse site, instructed the city Police Commissioner V K Gupta to conduct a `detailed inquiry' into yesterday's mishap that left 43 people dead and 30 injured.
"It is a bad situation and preliminary probe has revealed negligence on part of the person in-charge of the premises that led to the blast," Modi told reporters at the spot. "Those who died were aged between 16 and 30 years, and it is a loss of young generation in the state," he said even as he assured quick payment of compensation of Rs 50,000 to the kin of the deceased.
Modi assured the kin of the victims at Maskati Hospital that all arrangements would be made to transport the bodies to their native place.
Free treatment would be given to all the injured, he said. Meanwhile, a case has been registered under Sections 304 (A) and 337, 338 and 427 of IPC against Chinu Radhadiya of Ramnagar Society for `negligence leading to the blast'. Bureau Report
