Islamabad, Oct 27: Promising an early response to
Indian proposals to improve relations, Pakistan Prime Minister
Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali today said Islamabad has been
seriously pursuing to initiate dialogue with India to resolve
the disputes even as it was fully prepared to face any
eventuality.
Reacting to Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes'
remarks that India and Pakistan have the option of resolving
their problems through war or peace, Jamali told reporters
here that war should be the last resort to solve any dispute
and Pakistan advocated the need to resolve the disputes
through negotiations.
Jamali said negotiation is a permanent, viable and reasonable way to resolve the disputes, therefore Pakistan always followed the policy of negotiations.
Asked why Pakistan has not yet responded to the 12 points presented by them recently for negotiations, Jamali said most of these points were based on the proposals already submitted by Pakistan but India never accepted these.
Jamali however said the 12-points presented by India for negotiations with Pakistan were being considered and Pakistan would respond in a proper way to these points after comprehensive discussion.
