New Delhi, Sept15: Observing that there was no let up in terrorism directed against it, India today made it clear that it will keep in mind its "priorities" before taking any decision on sending troops to Iraq. "There has been no let up in terrorism directed against India," Foreign Secretary Kanwal Sibal told reporters while referring to the recent bomb blasts in Mumbai.
He was asked whether India was prepared to spare troops to participate in the stabilisation force in Iraq.
"Every country's first duty is to protect its own territory," he said adding "our priorities are what they are".
Sibal, however, said "this does not mean that India should give up its international responsibilities.
At the end of it, any judgement on the issue has to be taken by the political leadership keeping in view the position that prevails at a point of time. Bureau Report
