New Delhi, Dec 05: Forty five defence personnel have been found involved in passing sensitive information to Pakistan officials during the last three years, defence minister George Fernandes said today.
Eight of them have been dismissed or removed from service, while one person has committed suicide and another is absconding, he told the Lok Sabha in a written answer.
He said disciplinary, general court martial and investigation proceedings are in progress in respect of the remaining 35 personnel.
Vigil at various stages against leakage of sensitive information to hostile elements has been stepped up and suitable preventive measures initiated from time to time to thwart the efforts of hostile intelligence agencies, Fernandes said.
