Cincinati, Nov 23: Inter-American Products, a food distributor owned by No. 1 U.S. supermarket chain Kroger Co. , said on Friday it was recalling half-gallon cartons of Country Club Deluxe cookies 'n cream ice cream because the product may contain peanuts. Kroger spokesman Gary Rhodes said one customer in Tennessee gave the ice cream to her son, who had an allergic reaction but "is fine," he said. The label on the container did not specify peanuts as an ingredient.
Rhodes declined to name retailers where the ice cream was sold, but said it was not sold at any Kroger locations.
The half-gallon containers carry the code 198213-870 on the end of the carton and were distributed to various retail stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee and Puerto Rico, the company said.
The Cincinnati-based company said consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. Bureau Report
