Patiala, Nov 25; Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has selected 91 candidates out of 5,581 aspirants of the 1998 lot to Punjab civil services (executive branch) examination which were scrapped after the job for cash scam came to light last year. PPSC chairman Surjit Singh told reporters here today that a re-test for the 1998 batch was completed in about nine months. 980 examinees were shortlisted for the mains out of which 272 were selected for interviews leading to final selection of 91. Amit Talwar, Uma Shankar and Sandeep Rishi have topped the PCS examination. Total confidentiality of the selection process was maintained, the chairman claimed.


Former PPSC chairman Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu has been charged with accepting money for various irregularities, including supply of question papers, during the selections. He is presently lodged in Patiala Central Jail. Bureau Report
