Mumbai, Mar 25: About 30,000 workers of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) went on a three-day all India strike from today but supplies of petroleum products have not been affected so far. "There is no impact of the strike and the refineries are functioning normally. Enough stocks of petrol, diesel, LPG and kerosene as well as aviation turbine fuel have been maintained to meet the demand," spokespersons of the two state-owned oil companies said here. The strike call has been given by various unions of the two oil companies to protest against their privatisation. At least two of the 12 unions are not participating in the strike, sources said.

BPCL and HPCL between them feed nearly 40 per cent of the retail market.

The convenor of the oil sector officers' association Ashok Singh, when contacted, however, claimed that the strike by the non-management staff is a success all over India.
