Lara better than Tendulkar: MacGill

Brisbane, Dec 01: Australia's leg-spinner Stuart MacGill considers West Indies' Brian Lara to be a far more challenging proposition than Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar.
"I have spoken to Daniel Vettori and (Sri Lanka's Muttiah) Muralitharan and they agree on that," MacGill told reporters here today.
"He (Tendulkar) is certainly a huge challenge but if you speak to most of the spin bowlers around the world, Brian Lara is the one," said the Aussie spinner.
MacGill, who has so far picked 133 wickets at 26.31 from 26 Tests and so far taken five wickets in an innings on 14 occasions, backed himself to do well against India --the only team Shane Warne has not been able to conquer in his glittering career.
"My ability to take the ball away from the right-handers is important considering most of the Indians are right-handers," said MacGill.
"If I do well or hold my own against these guys I think I can seriously be considered as another spin bowler rather than a stunt man. Also the reason I want to do well is they (Indians) are supposed to be the best players of spin in the world,” he said.
"Besides Tendulkar, there are two or three Indian players who could do the same damage." Bureau Report
