Chennai, Aug 07: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today said that there should be a debate at the national level before taking any decision on simultaneous polls to the Lok Sabha and the state assemblies. "Only political parties are discussing about it and there is no official proposal as such from the government," he said speaking to newsmen at the Meenambakkam airport on his arrival to participate in a private function here.
Naidu said though his Telugu Desam Party felt that simultaneous elections were suitable, "problem is how to go about it, as many states have two to three years to go for assembly polls".
"Political reforms would have to be undertaken in the country, just like economic reforms, and then a debate on such issues should be conducted," he said. To a question on Ayodhya issue, Naidu said the Prime Minister A B Vajpayee had already made it abundantly clear that a solution should be found only either through talks or court verdict. "our stand is the same. There is no other way," he added.
On common civil code, Naidu said his party would discuss and take a decision on it after '"studying" the court verdict. Bureau Report
