Jabalpur, Nov 14: Election Commission has ordered a `thorough probe` into alleged violation of its order directing the Madhya Pradesh government to postpone the latter`s decision to supply free electricity to farmers till the assembly polls were over.

The commission's order follows a complaint lodged by P G Nazpandey, president of Nagrik Upbhokta Margdarshak Manch, on November 12 regarding violations of the commission's order by the state government.
Nazpandey, who had earlier challenged the decision of the state government before the Madhya Pradesh High Court, said the commission yesterday directed Chief Election Officer (CEO) to file a report on the matter.
The commission would announce its decision on November 18, after the receipt of report from the Chief Election Officer, he told pti today.

The Election Commission on November 10, while declaring the decision of state government to supply free electricity to farmers as a violation of model code of conduct, had directed the state government to postpone the proposal till the
assembly polls are over.
