Rewa (MP), June 16: Madhya Pradesh BJP today appealed to the people to extend their cooperation in uprooting the "corrupt" ruling Congress in the state. The appeal is part of a political resolution passed on the concluding day of the two-day BJP's state executive meet here yesterday, a release said today.
Alleging that the state government's short-sighted policies coupled with an "insensitive administration's lack of control" had blocked development of the state, it observed that the state was extremely backward in several respect.
"Principle sectors such as power, irrigation, roads, potable water, health, education, industry, trade and agriculture are now in dismal conditions," it said.
It also accused the Congress government of indulging in massive irregularities in electoral rolls.
"Instead of focusing on development, efforts are being made to raise dispute on Hindutva and cultural nationalism. However, BJP is committed to save the country as well as the state from destruction,” the resolution said.
Those who attended the meet included state BJP president Kailash Joshi, senior BJP leader Uma Bharti, BJP national general secretaries Sanjay Joshi and Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
The resolution also demanded an inquiry into the speeches of Congress leaders Radha Kishen Malaviya, Rajkumar Patel and Govind Malaviya given at Vancouver convention of Dalits held recently and seizure of their passports.
Congress was responsible for the power crisis in the state and state electricity board was an "institutionalised centre of corruption" that waived bills of crores of rupees, it alleged.
