New Delhi, July 09: The Delhi High Court today summoned the original records of PS Prashant Vihar here to ascertain the time of arrest of five Wimpy International Ltd employees, who were allegedly picked up from here and taken to Punjab last month without informing the local police. A bench comprising Justice Usha Mehra and Justice Pradeep Nandrajog issued a direction to this effect after senior counsel A M Singhvi, appearing for Punjab government, contested Wimpy's allegation that five of its employees were arrested during wee hours of June 13-14 and not at 10.30 am on June 14 as claimed by the state vigilance bureau.

The bench expressed surprise as to why two drivers of Wimpy were arrested in connection with a case disproportionate assets case registered at Mohali against a public servant.
Appearing for Wimpy, senior counsel Harish Salve accused Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh of "instigating" the arrest of Wimpy employees due to political vendetta.
The bench also summoned the records of the inter-state coordination cell of Crime Branch, Chanakyapuri, which was claimed to have been informed about the arrests.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has refuted the allegations levelled by Wimpy employees in the court. In its reply to the two petitions filed by wimpy and its employees, the bureau asserted it had informed the inter-state coordination cell of crime branch about the arrests. Bureau Report
