Maintaining that jugglery of words in defining the Kashmir issue was not going to help in any way, he said, "We have to take refuge to these words only when our intention is not sincere." India maintains that the Kashmir issue is a problem while Pakistan says it is a dispute.
Posing a set of three questions on the approach that has to be adopted to deal with the Kashmir tangle, Musharraf asked whether the vexed issue could be resolved without ascertaining the wishes of the people. "No, we cannot reach it," he said. He said the strategic objective of peace could be achieved much more easily through a resolution of the Kashmir problem.

"We want to give peace a biggest chance. I mean it," he said reiterating that there cannot be peace without resolving the Kashmir issue. Bureau Report
