Chennai, June 19: President A P J Abdul Kalam today
said India is interested in lasting peace with Pakistan but wondered if the leaders there shared the same interest.
"Our leaders are interested in peace. It is not clear
whether the leaders held the same views on the other side
also," he said speaking at the Sivananda orphanage, about 50
kms from here, this evening while rounding off his day-long
hectic activities in the city and Kancheepuram.
Replying to a question by a student on Indo-Pak relations, he told the questioner to concentrate on studies and let the leaders look after such matters.
To another question whether India would have another astronaut like Kalpana Chawla, who was killed in space shuttle Colombia on January 16 last, he said "certainly".
"ISRO is planning to send a man mission to the moon," he said.
