Leeds, Oct 08: A Leeds United player has been arrested over an alleged sexual assault on a 20-year-old woman, the BBC reported. West Yorkshire police said it was investigating the alleged attack in downtown Leeds on Monday evening.
"Two men have been arrested and are currently being questioned in connection with the incident," the police statement said yesterday.
The British Broadcasting Corp. reported one of the men was a Leeds player. A Leeds statement said the club would assist police.
"Leeds United Football Club has been advised by West Yorkshire Police of an ongoing investigation, and in line with club policy full cooperation has been extended to the police," the statement said.
"Any further comment cannot or will not be made by the club until the police investigation has been concluded and the club informed of that conclusion."

The arrests come two weeks after a 17-year-old girl accused several premier league players of rape in a five-star London hotel on Sept. 27.

The teenager has told police she agreed to have sex with one man but was then attacked by up to seven others _ several of whom were premier league players. No arrests have been made and players alleged to be involved have not been named.
