Defence Minister George Fernandes, who was completely under the sway of hypnotic show organised last night, eloquently summed up his sentiments when he said, "From combat to concert, IAF is the best. I think no one can beat you."
A musical extravaganza, interestingly titled "Air Warriors in Concert", showcasing some of the finest IAF talent in orchestrisation, captivated the hearts of seemingly stoic
air force personnel and uplifted the otherwise
protocol-infested environment to a more relaxed and natural
fun show.
The Indian Air Force band, IAF has seven bands, displayed marked versatility and played mellifluous tunes ranging from Carnatic classical music to Latino pop star Enrique, from the Godfather's theme music to Yanni, from Vande Matram to Vengaboys. There were solo flute performances, blending of Indian classical music with jazz, Hungarian gypsy music and the ultimate war song-"Christian Soldier". Air Chief Marshal, S Krishnaswamy too heaped praises on the band and said that air force is equally interested in soulful facets of life and for them "music is life."
