Army hawaldar killed, four injured in Pak shelling
Jammu, Oct 18: An army hawaldar was killed and four others, including three jawans, were critically wounded when Pakistani troops pounded light artillery shells and mortar bombs on Indian positions along Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

An army hawaldar, identified as Tara Chand, was killed and three jawans were wounded when an artillery shell exploded near a forward defence location (FDL) in Lam area of Rajouri district yesterday evening, the sources said adding a civilian was also injured in Balakote area.
Pakistani troops, using light artillery and field guns, fired 100 shells and nearly 200 mortar bombs to cause destruction to border fencing, FDL as well as civilian areas along Line of Control (LoC) in Janjard, Kalsian, Lam, Bhwani, Slotri, Balnoi, Balakote, Kerni and Kalal areas in Rajouri-Poonch sector, they said.
Injured have been hospitalised and troops responded to Pakistani shelling, the sources said.
So far, six people had been killed and 17 injured in Pakistani shelling in the state during this week, they added.
