Lucknow, June 11: Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission has raised the rates of electricity for the domestic consumers by 2.8 per cent.
The new rates resulting in a hike by 20 paise per unit
would be effective from June 21, chairman of SERC J L Bajaj
said here today.
The commission, in an additional burden to domestic consumers, has also withdrawn the 10 paise per unit rebate given for submission of bills within the due date.
This would help save the commission Rs 80 crore per month, Bajaj added.
There is, however, no hike for industries and rural pump sets, he said adding the minimum hours for power supply to people have also been regulated.
Bajaj also clarified that there would be no further hike in tariff in the near future. This is the fourth tariff order since the commission came into being in January 2000, he added.
