From a 15 year old mother murdering her new born baby girl to a modern day German cannibal, this week’s Crime File episode takes viewers to five crime stories that hit headlines earlier in the week.

The first of the five zeroes in on Safdarjung Enclave where yet another supari killing claimed the life of a businessman. As the trend of supari killings continue across the country, it is heartening to note that in this case, not only were the killers but the mastermind behind the contract were caught and brought to justice.
Away from the bustle of city life, crime rears its ugly head in the scenic surroundings of Dharamsala. An unwed fifteen year old girl gave birth to a new born baby girl and suffocated her by stuffing a piece of bread down the baby’s throat. The motive that emerged, was even more unsettling. The father of the child had apparently promised marriage to his minor lover on the condition that she deliver a boy. The mother of the hapless girl was also in on the conspiracy and has been booked along with her daughter.
Another kidnapping led the police in pursuit to Ghaziabad. The five year old son of the owner of a transport business was kidnapped by his father’s employee on the pretext of going for a walk. A ransom demand was made for five lakhs, which, on instructions by the police, the father bargained to bring down the figure to two lakhs. The meeting was set up and the police managed to nab the culprits and rescue the boy.
Far more unusual is the case in Meerut where three generations of women from the same family were murdered in rapid succession by the same duo. It all began when the grandmother objected to her granddaughter’s liasons with an unsavoury character. Constant opposition by the grandmother led the lovers to elope and get married in secrecy.

Later, the couple decided that killing the grandmother would be the best solution and a plot was hatched. Two hired killers accompanied the granddaughter to the house of her grandmother where the old lady was strangled to death.

However, a change of plans was affected when the mother of the murdering woman appeared on the scene and witnessed the crime. This prompted the hired killers to silence her for good. Another complication arose when the bride raised an objection to her mother’s murder which was not a part of the original plan. She threatened the killers that she would reveal their identity to the world. Taking her threats seriously, the duo saw no option but to kill her as well.
On the other side of the world, a murder trial in Germany has become the focus of media attention. No ordinary murder, it involved the murderer eating the flesh of his victim after the crime. The murderer met his victim on the Internet where he had posted an ad for willing victims of cannibalism. The victim responded to the ad and the two set up a meeting. The accused has argued that his victim was a willing party to his crime, as a result of which, he could not be held guilty.
