Nov 17: European Order of Merit winner Retief Goosen was the biggest winner at the Singapore Skins tournament at the Tanah Merah Country Club on Sunday.

Playing for the first time in a skins event, the South African picked up $70,000 (£43,750), including $60,000 on the 177-yard, par-three 11th after the previous six holes had been halved.
Goosen beat Ireland's Padraig Harrington, Fiji's Vijay Singh and Sergio Garcia of Spain.

In skins, a sum of money is available to the winner of each hole and is carried over to the next if no-one wins the hole outright.

"I was really the worst of the lot out there but still managed to come away the winner. That's what the skins game is all about," said Goosen. Harrington finished strongly, netting $45,000 on the 18th hole with a 30-foot putt for second, just ahead of Singh.

His total earnings for the day jumped to $50,000, placing him second, just ahead of Singh who finished with $45,000.
"I had already sunk a 30-footer on the 17th to halve the hole with Vijay, so I was pretty confident of doing it again on the final hole," Harrington said.

Garcia won only one skin, worth $15,000, with a great eagle on the par-five 15th. Bureau Report
