Giuliani on Monday said at a news conference that six people and possibly as many as eight people, were reported missing on the ground in the queens neighborhood known as the Rockaways, where American Airlines flight 587 nose-dived three minutes after take-off from John F. Kennedy international airport at 9:14 A.M. (1414 hrs GMT).
American Airlines said in a statement that it had revised upward the number of passengers on board the airbus a300-600 en-route to the Dominican Republic to 251 from 246 to account for five infants carried on the laps of parents. There were also nine crew members on the plane, the airline said, bringing the total on the plane to 260.
