Thiruvananthapuram, May 05: Dubai-based Malayalam channel Middle East Television would extend its operations to Kerala to give wider coverage to events in the state, MET chairman Ali Hassan said here today. MET, which started its telecast on November 1 last, has already set up state-of-the art studios and offices at Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, he told reporters. "Though MET is basically a Malayalam channel, there will be regular time slots for Hindi and different South Indian languages," he said. The MET programmes, beamed via Panamsat 10, are at present available in 185 countries. It is the first Malayalam channel covering Africa and Australia, he added. Soman Baby, MET editor-in-chief, said 30 per cent of the channel's programmes would be in English aimed at attracting youth and students in the Middle East.
