New Delhi, Sept 04: Former Swedish diplomat Gauffin Rolf Gustav and his wife, both accused in a foreign currency smuggling case, who have reportedly fled the country by jumping bail, were declared Proclaimed Offenders (POs) by a Delhi court last week. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate V K Maheshwari, who had earlier granted them bail, had allowed the application of customs department for declaring the couple as POs in an order passed on August 28 after they failed to appear before the court in the pending foreign currency smuggling case.
Prior to this, the court had issued Non-Bailable Warrants (NBWS) against Gauffin and his wife Gauffin Jeanni Francoise Marie on June six when they did not appear before it.

Their bail bonds were cancelled by the court in May.
The couple who were arrested at the IGI airport on December 7 last year for allegedly carrying foreign currency worth Rs 5.01 crore, were granted bail on February seven by the ACCM's court after the directorate of revenue intelligence failed to file a complaint within mandatory 60 days period under law.
