New Delhi, May 03: Delhi police sub-inspector Sanjay Gupta, who was the investigating officer in the CBSE Pre-medical Test question paper leak case, has admitted to have taken money from the father of the main accused in the case, CBI sources claimed today. After intense rounds of interrogation during the last three days, Gupta broke down saying he was facing severe financial crunch after making a huge investment in purchasing a house in Dawaraka in south west Delhi and had taken money from Om Prakash Verma, the father of the main accused, they claimed. Initially reluctant to co-operate with the CBI sleuths, the crime branch cop was cornered by the CBI after making him to listen to a tapped conversation that he had with Verma, the sources said.

Delhi Police constable Umeed Singh, who was also arrested by the CBI last week along with Gupta, had reportedly told the agency sleuths that he had threatened Vermas at the instance of Gupta, they said.

CBI has also started scrutinizing 45 files, seized from Gupta's office during raids, and were probing whether investigations in other cases were carried out thoroughly or not, the sources said.

Meanwhile, searches were continuing to nab Gupta's Colleauge, Rakesh Kumar, who had allegedly escorted Verma to the arrested sub-inspector's car to keep the money.

CBI has already seized a Tata Sumo belonging to Kumar from which the agency had recovered the entire jewellery belonging to Om Prakash, his wrist watch, his driving licence and emptied purse.
