Bhopal, Nov 09: As poll fever hots up, the focus has
now shifted to two assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh: Chief
Minister Digvijay Singh's bastion Raghogarh in Guna district
and Bada Malehra of Chhatarpur where BJP's Uma Bharti is in the
fray.
Popularly referred to as the "raja" of Raghogarh, Singh
is facing BJP General Secretary Shivraj Singh Chauhan in the
battle. Although BJP has endevaroured to create a sensation by
fielding Chauhan against Singh, the latter claims that the BJP
leader has been made a scapegoat by his party.
BJP leaders are of the view that Singh would have to devote more time in his own home constituency to face the challenge thrown by Chauhan's presence and would in turn be unable to tour other assembly segments in the state to campaign for party candidates elsewhere.
Dismissing this outright, a confident looking Singh said he would visit Raghogarh only twice to file his nomination papers and to cast his vote on December one. "It is wrong to conclude that I would be more busy in my constituency and cannot give time to campaign for others".
The battle is being fought by people of Raghogarh and he has nothing to worry, Singh said adding history shows members of his family have always been backed by residents of Raghogarh.
His confidence was further exemplified when he asked party leaders and workers not to tour Raghogarh during the campaign and instead concentrate on their own areas.
