New Delhi, July 28: Shocked by political developments in Arunachal Pradesh in the wake of a split in Congress there reducing its government to a minority, the party today sought an appointment with prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to tell him how his government was "indulging in the destabilisation game for petty gains". "Senior Congress leaders have sought an appointment with the Prime Minister tomorrow to tell him about developments in the north-east region, especially in Arunachal Pradesh," party spokesman S Jaipal Reddy told reporters here.
"It is our charge that BJP-led NDA government has been playing with fire in these parts of the country," he said.
Alleging that governments in north-eastern states were being "destabilised for petty reasons", he said the country had a lot at stake in Arunachal Pradesh which is a sensitive border state.
He recalled how Congress governments in the past 50 years had succeeded in emotionally integrating the people of the north-east into the national mainstream.
