Bhopal, June 17: Congress MLA Kalpana Parulekar, and independent MLA Suneela were arrested along with their supporters for blocking traffic on Mhow-Neemuch Highway. Parulekar, who along with hundreds of her supporters, had been protesting against the `anti-farmers policies' of Digvijay Singh-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh, paralysed the traffic on the highway on Sunday evening for more than six hours by staging `dharna', police said here today.

When Parulekar did not agree to end the dharna, police resorted to force to clear the road and arrested them, they said. Over 200 agitators were also arrested but later they were released, police said adding, since Parulekar refused to put in her bail papers, the court sent her to jail till June 20.

She was taken to Ujjain yesterday and lodged in the Bheravgarh Jail. Meanwhile, Parulekar, who has been provided with special facilities in the women's barrack in the jail, said she would not apply for bail till the state government accept her various demands, including waiver of electricity bills and withdrawal of installation of electronic meters.
