Jammu, Mar 20: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said he was reviewing the situation in the state and was determined to put an end to
terrorism with an "iron hand".
"I will not dither to take hard action against anti-national elements. Terrorism will be dealt with an iron hand," Sayeed said making a suo moto statement in the legislative assembly.
In an apparent reference to Hurriyat Conference, Sayeed criticised those who were trying to sabotage his sincere efforts of resolving the Kashmir problem through dialogue as
"enemies of peace".
"The crunch time for them has approached and I fervently hope they would see the writing on the wall and respond positively to the dialogue process initiated by the government," stated the CM.
The chief minister said he was constantly reviewing the situation in the state and appropriate action is being taken at all levels. Sayeed said 214 militants including 74 foreign mercenaries have been killed and 66 arrested during this year and large quantity of arms and ammunition seized.
The chief minister said forces have been put on high alert along Rajouri-Poonch sector as militants use this corridor for infiltration during spring.
He said according to intelligence reports a large number of militants had infiltrated into Poonch, Rajouri and Doda, which led to their heightened activities in recent times.
