Pune, Dec 08: Armin Kremer took the FIA APRC title after a courageous drive into second place in his MRF Tyres backed Group N Mitsubhishi, picking up seven super rally points.
Kremer also secured the APRC production car title, while the manufacturers title went to Mitsubishi.
This was the second running of the MRF Rally of India and is country's first event to be included in an FIA regional championship.
The series leader before this final round was New Zealander Geof Argyie. He ran into clutch and suspension trouble on the first leg over the rough gravel tracks and suffered similar problems throughout the rally and failed to score a point.
Japan's Fumio Nutahara had started with a mathematical chance of taking the title but he crashed on the first leg. Although he restarted both subsequent legs he suffered further mechanical problems and finished neither.
