Colombo, July 06: Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels have freed two police constables they seized in a tit-for-tat move nearly a month ago, local officials said today.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) released the policemen yesterday, two days after a court granted bail to a local Tiger leader arrested by police on a crinimal charge.
Scandinavians monitoring a truce between the LTTE and government forces had ruled that seizing the policemen was a violation of the ceasefire that went into effect from February 23 last year.
