Kota, Aug 24: Central government would establish over 100 social justice centres in different parts of the country, including Kota, to provide information regarding welfare projects being run for the benefit of socially backward people, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Satya Naraya Jatiya said.
"About 80 per cent of the country's population falls
under the socially backward category of which 52 per cent were
minorities of all shades," Jatiya told reporters here
yesterday.
The government had formulated a number of schemes for the welfare of the people who, he said, were not aware of them. It would be the duty of the centres to make the people aware of the schemes so that more and more people could benefit from them, he said.
Jatiya said a commission would soon be set up to study in detail the problems faced by people in receiving benefits of welfare schemes.
