New Delhi, Dec 19: The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the market crash has named stock broker Ketan Parekh as ''a key player'' in the stock scam. Ketan Parekh ''received large sums of money from the banks as well as from the corporate bodies during the period when Sensex was falling rapidly,'' the JPC said in its report tabled in Parliament today.
''This led the committee to believe that there was a nexus between Ketan Parekh, banks and the corporate houses,'' the report said and recommended that this nexus be further investigated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) or the department of company affairs expeditiously.
