New Delhi, Sept 23: The Delhi High Court today issued notices to the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) and Bar Council of India (BCI) on a petition challenging the latter's order staying the BCD polls scheduled for September 29/30. While issuing the notices, Justice B D Ahmed posted the matter for hearing tomorrow. Justice Ahmed, however, refused to stay the BCI order as sought by petitioner Sanjay Jain and Siddharth Mridul - both advocates - who approached the court against the BCI action. The BCI had on September 20 stayed the BDC polls on the ground of "serious illegalities" allegedly committed by BCD office bearers. "DBC had left out more than 15,000 members from the voter's list and we had received representation from advocates associations regarding the same. Besides Attorney General of India Soli Sorabjee too opined that there were illegalities," BCI said.

Delhi Bar Association, Delhi Tax Bar Association, Bharathiya Vakil Sangh and several advocates had Bhadana sent representations to BCI - the apex regulatory body - alleging illegalities in the BCD polls, BCI said.
