Sydney, Oct 23: Australian fast bowler Brett Lee, ruled out of tri-series tour of India, will undergo surgery on his left ankle, Cricket Australia said today. Lee was forced out of the Indian tour with a strained stomach muscle, but has been persevering with ankle problems for some time. Team physiotherapist Errol Alcott said the injury to his stomach had given lee an opportunity to correct the troublesome ankle. He bowled despite pain in the back of his ankle during this month's two-Test series against Zimbabwe, and Alcott said the injury should heal quickly after surgery. Australia is also without fellow pacemen Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie and leg spinner Stuart MacGill, all through injury. Shane Warne is serving a one-year suspension for using a banned diuretic. Bureau Report
