Dhaka, Oct 27: Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will visit seven nations to garner support for her country's bid to secure the coveted post of OIC Secretary Generalship. Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, Parliamentary Adviser to Begum Zia has been named as Bangladesh candidate for the top position at the Jeddah-based organization of Islamic conference. Election to the post will be held in June next year in turkey during the OIC Foreign Ministers meeting. Media reports said Zia will visit seven countries in Asia and A0frica in the next eight months to marshal support for Chowdhury, who served as a minister during the tenure of Military Ruler H.M. Ershad. Countries Zia would visit include Brunei, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Ivory Coast, Niger and Senegal. A daily 'Ittefaq' said that Bangladesh has already received written and verbal support from 25 member states. Saudi Arabia has also announced its support for Bangladesh. Bureau Report
