Ahmedabad, Dec 11: Voting for the Gujarat Assembly elections will begin tomorrow. All riot-affected areas and sensitive parts of the state would be under a heavy security blanket with the state government deploying several security agencies to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections.

blanket with the state government deploying several security
agencies to ensure peaceful, free and fair elections.
More than 300 companies of central para-military forces,
commandos of the indo Tibetan border police, central
industrial security force, central reserve police force,
border security force, Tamil Nadu arms force, Rajasthan
police, 200 personnel of Gujarat Police, rapid action force
would be deployed at strategic locations to prevent any
untoward incident and proper flow of voters, an official
release said here.
City Police Commissioner K R Kaushik has also passed
strict orders instructing all security and police personnel to
be on an alert to spot and take necessary legal action against
any person who tries to stop or trouble electorate.
Special patrolling units would also be deployed to monitor situation in the entire city including each polling booth and officials have reportedly devised plans to cover as much ground as possible in minimum amount of time, it said.
Each police station would have reserve police forces on stand-by while a ‘quick action team’ would also be kept ready to handle any trouble situation, the release added.
