Singapore, Dec 05: About 350 tonnes of oil has leaked into waters off Singapore after a cargo ship and oil tanker collided early today, officials said. There was no report of any injury to crew after the Panama-registered Tian Yu collided with a Singapore-registered oil tanker, Agate, just before dawn about 40 kilometres (25 miles) east of Singapore.

"The Agate sustained some damage to her port slop tank, and an initial estimate of 350 tonnes of Sumatra Light crude oil was reported to have leaked," the Maritime and Ports Authority (MPA) said in a statement.

Six anti-pollution craft have been deployed to the eastern fringes of Singapore's port limits to monitor the situation, and authorities in neighbouring Indonesia and Malaysia have been informed.
There was no sign of any oil hitting islands in the area or mainland Singapore, but an aerial survey was to be conducted to further assess the situation. Bureau Report
