Kolkata, Jan 03: The CBI has registered cases against some BSNL officials working with Calcutta telephones, including one in the rank of divisional engineer, and recovered Rs 32 lakh and other assets during searches at their office and residential premises here. A communique from the anti-corruption branch of the agency today said that two bank lockers of one of the officers of the Calcutta telephones, of the rank of divisional engineer, were opened by cbi officials during the process of inquiry yesterday.

Assets, including Rs 32 lakh in cash, documents pertaining to investments in the form of NSCs, government relief bonds, shares and bank deposits worth Rs 45 lakh, jewellery worth Rs 5.6 lakh and land purchase papers valued at Rs two lakh were recovered.
According to the agency, the seized documents are being scrutinised and investigation of the case is in progress.
