New Delhi, Nov 04: Lufthansa proposes to operate daily direct flights from Chennai to Frankfurt from next month under limited open sky policy announced by the government. "We are pleased to link Chennai to Frankfurt with daily services to cater to growing travel demand from the Southern region as well as provide further choices and convenient connections," Lufthansa's general manager and director, South Asia, Werner Heesen, said.

"Lufthansa would operate a Boeing 747-400 aircraft on the route starting from December 01,"said Heesen. Chennai would be the airline's third destination in the country after Delhi and Mumbai.

Lufthansa also plans to increase its Bangalore-Frankfurt flights from three to six a week from December this year to February next.

The limited open sky policy will be effective from December to February next year. Bureau Report
