Kochi, Mar 10: Ernakulam division of LIC had issued 2.6 lakhs new policies generating an income of Rs 96 crores as on Feb 28 and was poised to break new grounds of excellence, said M R Kumar, senior divisional manager, today. Addressing a press conference here, he said the achievements made by the division takes it into the top notch among the 12 divisions of south zone encompassing the states of Tamil Nadu and the Union territory of Pondicherry.
The division was also set to scale the Rs 100 crores first premium mark today, which would make it among the top ten divisions of the country in volume of business, he said.
Ernakulam division had so far settled 1,00,784 maturity claims amounting to Rs 135 crores and death claims settled was 2681 amounting to Rs 16 crores, he said adding by the end of this March all claims were expected to be settled.
He said the 24 branches of the division were connected to the wide area network (wan), enabling the customers to remit premium in any of the 2000 branches across the country.
Among the various initiatives the division undertook to improve the services to the policyholders includes technological innovations like green channel for spot completion of new policies and single window service for rendering all services at one desk, he said.
Jeevan Rekha, Jeevan Anand, Jeevan Samruddhi, Anmol Jeevan and Komal Jeevan, were the plans launched by LIC during the current fiscal, he said. Bureau Report
