Patna, Apr 11: Speaker of Bihar assembly Sadanand Singh has given his nod to a CBI proposal to prosecute senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha member Rajo Singh in a conspiracy angle case of multi-crore fodder scam.
Assembly secretariat sources said the Speaker sanctioned Rajo's prosecution three days ago paving the way for the CBI to chargesheet the Congress leader. The CBI had moved the office of the Speaker for prosecution sanction of Rajo Singh as he was an MLA at the time when the scam surfaced and allegations were levelled against him in the conspiracy angle case. The case relates to fraudulent withdrawals of more than Rs 36 crore from Chaibasa treasury by the state animal husbandry department officials through forged and fake bills. RJD president Laloo Prasad Yadav and former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra who too are accused in the case have already secured regular bail.

The investigating agency had on December 20, 2002 formally approached the office of the speaker seeking his nod to prosecute the Congress leader.
