Dehradun, Oct 03: All the 300 petrol pumps and 90 kerosene agencies in Uttaranchal remained closed today in support of a strike called by petroleum transporters. "The strike was complete but the petrol pumps would be reopened from tomorrow," petroleum traders association president Shri Nandan said.
The petroleum traders are supporting the cause of transporters, who are on strike since Sept 29 in protest against the oil companies' decision to lower transportation charges.
Though the dealers said they would open their petrol pumps from tomorrow but they failed to explain as to how the demand of petroleum products could be met in view of the indefinite strike by the oil tankers.
More than 700 tankers supplying petroleum products in the state have stopped plying on the road, a move that hit the supply of petrol and diesel in uttaranchal, dealers said.
