Srinagar, July 24: Deputy chief of mission in US embassy Robert Blake has said a cooperative programme on the education exchange will be developed between the United States and the Jammu and Kashmir government.
He, accompanied by Lauren Loveface, political officer in US embassy, and Khalash Jha, political specialist, visited the University of Kashmir yesterday.
During his interaction with vice-chancellor of the University Jalees Ahmad Khan Tareen, Blake said the aim of his visit was to explore the possibilities of working together, particularly in the field of education, ''as we need exchange of information and ideas for a better future''.
The vice-chancellor informed the visiting dignitaries that the university, which is ranked among the first 25 universities of the country, has recently introduced bio-technology, psychology, environmental sciences and geology at the master level programme.
Blake stressed that efforts should be made to involve private sector, particularly the multinational corporations, in the working of the university.



The US official said, ''we will try to develop a cooperative programme between the US government and the state with stress on developing the education exchange.''



Earlier, Blake visited the famous Iqbal Library and Central Asian Museum.
