Dehradun , Aug 04: The unwed mother scandal today took a new twist when Uttaranchal's former revenue minister, Harak Singh Rawat filed a criminal case for defamation against Indira Debri alias Jenny, the woman who delivered in June a baby allegedly fathered by Rawat. Rawat in the writ petition filed before the chief judicial magistrate Giridhar Dharmshaktu described the charges of rape against him as wrong and lodged the criminal case under IPC section 120 (B) (conspiracy) 211(false charges for committing criminal offense)and 500 (defamation) against Jenny and others, his counsel J D Jain said.
Saying that a conspiracy was hatched against him by some politicians who involved jenny also to finish his political career, Rawat, said in the petition that the whole episode has defamed him. Later the court admitted the petition and Rawat's statement was recorded before the magistrate, Jain said adding that the next hearing in the case would be held on August 18.
