Ajmer, Feb 15: A royal railway saloon, belonging to erstwhile princely state of Rajasthan, has been sold to a five star hotel in Delhi, railway sources said here today.
The saloon, earlier used in the meter gauge version of the "Palace on Wheels” has been sold to Le Meridien in Delhi for about Rs five lakhs, they said.
The saloon, lying in the carriage workshop of the North-East railway after the conversion of railway gauge in Rajasthan routes some years back, was sent to Delhi by road on a truck yesterday.
The hotel management proposes to use the saloon as a cafe to provide a glimpse of the past royal glamour to its customers.
