New Delhi, Nov 02: Accusing the RSS and Sangh Parivar outfits of pushing the country towards a communal divide, a Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind delegation tonight met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and demanded banning of these organisations and reservation for Muslims in all spheres. A six-member delegation led by the Jamiat's president Maulana Asad Madani also wanted payment of compensation to Muslim victims of riots, a Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind release said.
According to the release, the Prime Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation and said he will look into the issues raised by them. The delegation alleged there were no restrictions on the "communal provocative" activities of the RSS and its affiliated outfits like the VHP and Bajrang Dal. "On the contrary, they enjoy clandestine support of the administration, police and those in power. These organisations are pushing the country towards a communal divide, two-nation theory and civil strife," it alleged. The Jamiat had launched a Mulk-o-Millat Bachao movement from October 2 to 15 in support of its demands. Bureau Report
