Jammu, Oct 15: In view of the threat perception from militants the authorities have beefed up security arrangements in the winter capital of Jammu for Dusshera festival. Additional police and para-military forces have been deployed throughout the city and thorough checking and frisking is being conducted at entry and exit points in the city to ensure that anti-national elements do not disrupt the festival, top police sources said here.
The district authorities have also been asked to keep a strict vigil on anti-social and anti-national elements, the sources said.
A 'Rath Yatra' carrying idols of Lord Rama and Lakshman would be taken out from historic Dewan Mandir at Pacca Danga to parade ground where the effigies of Ravana, Kumbkarna, and Meghnath will be set afire in the evening.
