Four columns of the army, after Thursday’s attack, were deployed in Parliament House, South Block and Sena Bhavan while one column each were posted at the prime minister's house and the residences of home minister L K Advani and leader of the opposition Sonia Gandhi.
An army spokesman said the troops who had been deployed 'to be on the look-out for help' were withdrawn in the evening.
Immediately after the incident at parliament house, where five terrorists launched a suicide attack, the army was requisitioned from Delhi cantonment to carry out patrol duties. Opposition members of Parliament had raised the issue of the army being brought in 'without taking the permission' of Lok Sabha speaker G M C Balayogi.
