Coimbatore, June 23: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the one-day visit of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on June 25 here, to receive honorary doctorate from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU). Additional police forces would be deployed in and around the city, enroute to the university from the airport, where she would be arriving in the afternoon on that day, police said.

Police would be on their toes, as state governor P S Ramamohan Rao, in his capacity as the chancellor of the university, would also be in the city, to confer the doctor of science (honoris causa) on Jayalalithaa. State ministers R Jeevanantham, also pro-chancellor of TNAU, S M Velusami, P V Damodaran and mayor T Malaravan, reviewed various other arrangements, including the reception at airport and also at university.

TNAU is conferring the degree on Jayalalithaa for her contributions in agricultural and rural development and development of women in the state during her tenure as chief minister in 1991-1996. Bureau Report
